Koronjää 5km hiking loop is a terrific excursion to Korouoma´s grand gorge valley. Koronjää is Finland´s only icefall route, in which you can see Korouoma´s magnificent icefalls every winter. Summertime offers one the sights of the river flowing and the presence of the magnificent cliffs.
The Koronjää trailhead leaves from the Saukkavaara parking lot, which leads to the Hannunkallio viewpoint. The trail descends from there to Korojoki (Koro River), where there are large icefalls in the winter (Jaska Jokunen, Mammutti, and Ruskeavirta). From there the route ascends through Saanyovaavu back up to Saukkovaara. Total trip time is about 5 hours, of which 2 are spent at Koronjää.
