Discover life on a real reindeer farm

This activity is available on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The reindeer could almost be described as the national animal of Lapland, as the number of reindeer in Lapland is larger than that of humans. In Ranua, it is possible to get acquainted with this traditional industry through a guided visit to the Vaara reindeer farm.

This program service includes a guided feeding tour, during which guests can get to know the animals on the farm up close and hear interesting factual information about the reindeer lifestyle and the year round. The visit continues with a short presentation about life on the reindeer farm and a reindeer sleigh ride of about 300 meters around the reindeer farm. The visit ends with a warm moment of drinking and superheating in a traditional Lapland hut.

This program service is bookable from the beginning of November until the end of March. If there is no snow during Ranua during the visit, reindeer riding can be replaced with traditional lasso throwing guidance, for example.

The minimum number of participants in the activity is two people and a maximum of 20 people.

Children under 4 years can join for free.

Transportation to the activity site (approx. 5km) is not included in the price. Round-trip taxi ride for 2-8 people costs around €60.
